Your Rights Under New Zealand Debt Recovery Laws

Drivers involved in a not at fault accident have the right to claim compensation. As a general rule, the driver who does not take reasonable care is determined to be at fault. Occasionally this can mean both drivers.

The not at fault driver can make a claim from the at fault party’s insurer for the cost of property damage, vehicle repair and hire car costs. Redwood Services will liaise directly with the at fault driver’s insurer to take the hassle out of negotiating a recovery.

If the at fault driver or their insurer refuses to pay, legal action against them may be required. We can assist with the process of taking legal action through our trusted partner.
